I started my nonprofit because I know what it feels like to be overlooked, confused, broken, and searching for love in places that cannot heal you. I want to reach young women and young men before they become lost in the same streets, the same hurt, and the same cycles. I want them to know they are seen, valued, protected, and worthy of a future that is bigger than their pain

Brittany Winkfield
Hi everyone! I’m Brittany, an entrepreneur with a background in the beauty industry and a passion for wellness, leadership, and community. Building my own business has taught me the value of resilience, creativity, and serving others.
I’m excited to pass down the tools that have helped me build a stronger life and leadership skills. I have a heart for young people and believe every child has the potential to succeed. I’m passionate about providing mentorship, building confidence, and creating opportunities that empower the next generation to thrive and reach new heights.
As Chief Operating Officer of Next Level Ascent Inc., I am committed to helping create a positive, supportive environment where every young person feels encouraged, valued, and inspired to achieve their full potential.
Chief Operating Officer (COO)
Alvin Johnson is a business owner, military veteran, and community leader with a strong background in leadership and service. He is the founder and owner of Junior Sweet Potato Pie, a Columbus-based business, and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Criminology from The Ohio State University. His experience in the military, entrepreneurship, and business leadership has equipped him with valuable skills in teamwork, strategic planning, and community engagement.
As Vice President of Next Level Ascent Inc., Alvin is dedicated to mentoring youth, strengthening families, and creating opportunities that empower the next generation to succeed.

Darrell Smoot Sr.
Treasurer
Darrell Smoot Sr. is a dedicated family man, business leader, and community advocate with decades of experience in leadership, business management, and operations. As President of a towing and recovery company and a retired member of Laborers’ Local Union 423, he has developed strong skills in financial oversight, team leadership, and organizational management.
As the father of an NFL player, Darrell understands the importance of mentorship, discipline, and building a strong foundation for future generations. As Treasurer of Next Level Ascent Inc., he applies his financial and leadership experience to help strengthen the organization while supporting its mission to empower youth, strengthen families, and create lasting opportunities within the community.
JaMecca Smoot
JaMecca Smoot is a dedicated leader with experience in healthcare, business operations, and community service. She serves as Vice President of a towing and recovery company, is a managing cosmetologist, Certified Nursing Assistant, and independent Medicaid provider. Her work supporting older adults and individuals living with mental health challenges and Alzheimer’s disease reflects her compassion and commitment to serving others.
As Board Secretary for Next Level Ascent Inc., JaMecca brings strong organizational skills, integrity, and a passion for helping others. She is committed to supporting the organization’s mission of empowering youth, strengthening families, and building stronger communities.

Dale Lacy
Board Member & Chair of Fundraising and Development
Dale Lacy is the Founder and CEO of Larco Asset Recovery LLC, bringing more than 40 years of business leadership and entrepreneurial experience. Throughout his career, he has built strong relationships with corporate partners, managed large-scale events, and developed successful business ventures across Ohio and Kentucky.
As Chair of Fundraising and Development for Next Level Ascent Inc., Dale leverages his extensive business experience, community connections, and strategic leadership to strengthen partnerships, expand fundraising opportunities, and support the organization’s mission of empowering youth and building stronger communities.

Turning Pain
Into Purpose
Next Level Ascent was born from one woman's journey of overcoming adversity and discovering that her greatest pain could become her greatest purpose.
After experiencing hardship, searching for acceptance, and navigating life's challenges, Founder & CEO Darrallyn Smoot made a decision: no young person should have to face those struggles alone.
What began as a personal calling has grown into a mission to empower youth ages 10–21 through mentorship, leadership development, peer support, and community engagement—giving every young person the opportunity to believe in themselves and build a brighter future.
Today, Next Level Ascent exists to help young people rise above their circumstances, discover their purpose, and become the next generation of leaders.
